Students in after-school educational activities can participate in free snack and dinner program

WEST COLUMBIA, SC -- Students enrolled in after-school activities in the 2020-21 academic year at Cayce Elementary, Congaree Elementary, Wood Elementary, Riverbank Elementary, Saluda River Academy for the Arts and Springdale Elementary can participate in a free snack and dinner program.

Students enrolled in after-school educational programs at these Lexington Two schools will participate in the U.S. Department of Agriculture Child and Adult Care Food Program, a federal nutrition program offered through the Department of Social Services that helps to improve the nutritional quality of meals served to participants. The goal of the program is to introduce different types of foods to children and reinforce good eating habits. Snacks and dinner are available to participants at no charge. Children who are members of FI assistance units, SNAP or Food Distribution Programs on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) households are automatically eligible to receive free meal benefits.
