Christopher K. Dickey: About Me

Welcome Congaree families,

I am extra excited about having the opportunity to work at what WILL Become one of the best diverse, high poverty, high performing schools in the state of South Carolina.  Here are a few things about me:

I claim my hometown to be Fayetteville, NC  and grew up moving around the world.  This is my 22nd year in education.  I have coached soccer, basketball, and football at the middle school level and worked with mentoring programs.   I have worked at inner city, suburban, and rural schools.  I have worked at the elementary, middle and the high school levels.  This gives me a unique opportunity to see the beginning and end of our students' K-12 journey.  I have taught 2nd and 6th Grades and served as a full time assistant principal intern, assistant principal, associate principal and principal of two schools throughout my career.  I have worked in Cumberland County Schools (NC), Rock Hill School District Three (SC), Johnston County Schools (NC), Richland School District Two (SC), and now in Lexington School District Two (SC) where I have been a principal at B-C Grammar School # 1 and Congaree Elementary School.

I became a teacher because I saw how I could have a positive effect on some students' lives.  I became an administrator because I saw how I could have a positive effect on many students' lives.  I received my B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from Claflin University, Masters of School Administration from Fayetteville State University, and Educational Specialist Degree from South Carolina State University.  At these historic institutions, I have met lifelong friends and networked with some of the most brilliant people the country has to offer.

When I am not working with the great families and staff at Congaree Elementary School, I am spending time with my wife and daughter.  I enjoy traveling, cooking on the grill, and learning about property improvement.
