Cleared for Takeoff ✈️
Flight: 2-5 VIP
Pilot: Mrs. Ward
Co-Pilots: Mrs. Sightler, Ms. Denny
Learning numbers in Mrs. Ward’s class is hands-on and engaging! Our students are using the TouchMath curriculum to identify numbers and build important foundational math skills through touch, movement, and meaningful practice.
At Congaree, we believe every learning experience is an opportunity for our students to grow, gain confidence, and SOAR! When students are actively engaged and supported in their learning, they are empowered to reach new heights.

Cleared for Takeoff ✈️
Flight: 2nd Grade
Pilot: Mrs. Ross
Mrs. Ross’s class was busy putting their phonics skills to work with a fun short vowel word sort! Students matched each word to the picture that showed the correct word while practicing how to identify and distinguish short vowel sounds.
These hands-on activities help students SOAR by strengthening their ability to hear, recognize, and apply vowel sounds when reading and spelling. The more students practice these foundational phonics skills, the more confident, accurate, and fluent readers they become!
We’re building strong readers one sound, one word, and one success at a time!

Aviators know that reaching new heights takes preparation, courage, teamwork, and a willingness to keep moving forward. Today, let’s challenge ourselves to SOAR higher—in our learning, our relationships, and the goals we set for ourselves.
And the learning doesn’t have to stop when the school day ends! Families, we invite you to continue the flight at home this afternoon. Take a few minutes together to talk about what it means to SOAR. Ask your student: What is one goal you are working toward? What helps you keep going when something is difficult? How can our family help you reach new heights?
You can even make it fun! Look for an airplane in the sky, learn about a famous aviator, build and fly a paper airplane, or simply talk about where your student hopes to “fly” in the future.
Remember, we don’t SOAR alone. It takes the support of our school, our families, and our community to help every student reach new heights.

Taking you inside Congaree Elementary, one classroom at a time!...

Flight: 5th Grade
Pilot: Ms. Chasteen
Ms. Chasteen’s students are putting their learning into action as they prepare for tomorrow’s place value assessment! Through targeted practice, purposeful questioning, and opportunities to apply their understanding, students are strengthening the foundational math skills they need for continued success.
At Congaree, we know that strong instruction, high expectations, student engagement, and intentional support are key to helping every student reach their full potential. Today’s place value practice is about more than preparing for a test—it’s about building a strong foundation that will help our students SOAR to new heights!
